The Common University Entrance Test, or CUET 2024, scheduled from May 15th to May 31st, is the premier gateway for lakhs of aspiring students to get into the best central, state, and private universities for courses ranging from the Arts and Humanities to the Hard Sciences and Commerce. India’s top-ranked universities, such as the University of Delhi, JNU, AMU, Jamia Millia, and the University of Hyderabad, accept CUET scores for admission to most UG courses. But just scoring well on the CUET 2024 exam isn’t enough. Students must also fulfil the CUET eligibility criteria by meeting the qualification requirements, CUET age limit, and minimum passing marks. Additionally, each program at each university has its own eligibility criteria that each student needs to meet, failing to which they will be deemed ineligible for admission.
In this blog, we’ll cover the CUET eligibility criteria that you need to meet, encompassing your educational requirements and minimum marks. We’ll also delve into the reservation policy that is in place. Lastly, we’ll end with links to other blogs covering university-specific CUET eligibility.

According to the official notification released by the NTA, there is no upper age limit to take the CUET exam. As long as the candidate has either cleared their class 12 or equivalent examination or will clear it this year, irrespective of their age, they can sit for the CUET 2024 exam. The NTA enforces no CUET age limit.
However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that constituent colleges don’t have their own age limit criteria in place. All students will have to check with their target colleges to see if there is an age limit that they need to adhere to. Failing to do so will render them disqualified despite having cleared CUET.

This is a common question that many students preparing for CUET have. Will taking a drop year to prepare for CUET affect their eligibility? Fortunately, most colleges allow drop-year students to apply for programs via CUET. While CUET has no restrictions based on the year of appearance in class 12 examination, institutions might have their own criteria. It is best to enquire and confirm with your target colleges.
The official notification – CUET UG Eligibility Notification – has listed out the qualifying examinations that are considered valid to sit for the CUET exam.
It is important to reiterate that the CUET eligibility criteria for individual universities and colleges vary widely. It is imperative for students to check the CUET criteria for each individual institution.
